This past weekend, my boyfriend and I went to the FIT Museum for the Daphne Guinness Exhibit. I was completely blown away. All of the clothes, shoes, accessories were absolutely beautiful. The set was dark, yet mysterious. Everything about this exhibit had a gothic atmosphere. When I looked at all the clothes and accessories, I found myself saying “I want that” to my boyfriend at least 10 times, or more. I was so glad my boyfriend enjoyed himself as well, he was absolutely impressed. He especially with all of the shapes and sizes of the heels that were displayed. We both liked this exhibit very much, and hopefully we would go there together again soon.
The top designers that I noticed at the exhibit were Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld for Channel. The pieces were inspired by a gothic Victorian era, the accessories were inspired by the same era as well. There were also pieces inspired by armor, capes, masks, anything that screams gothic. I loved every minute of it. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to take any pictures or video footage. It was prohibited in the museum. That is the only negative part about my trip to the Daphne Guinness Exhibit. It would be great if I did had any photo or video footage. But, if you live in the NYC area, definitely check it out. You will be amazed as well. It is located on 27th and 7th Ave, and it is completely free. This exhibit will be shown until January 7, 2012. So, you have plenty of time to go and check out the greatness of Daphne Guinness.
I don’t want to give too much away, cause I truly want all of you to see this exhibit for yourself. But, you will be amazed as I was when you walk in. Now, You are all wonder who is Daphne Guinness and why does she have her own exhibit? Daphne Guinness is a fashion designer who loves to wear the most extreme pieces, and an inspiration to many other fashion designers around the world. Think of her as the Lady GaGa of the fashion industry. she has a flare for making her own fashion trends, instead of following the next hottest trend of the season.
Trust me, if my boyfriend and I loved this exhibit, then you will too. If you love to see extreme and new trends, gothic Victorian era, and something outside of the fashion industry, then go visit the Museum at FIT now until January 7th, 2012. You will be amazed, and have a great time.
